Positivi-Tea Issue 2

Hello you lovely lot. Thank-you so much for joining us for another cup of Positivi-Tea. If you missed the first issue Click Here to have a read. I just want to start by saying a BIGG thank-you for the lovely responses on the first one, I am beyond grateful and love every single one of you already! Pop the kettle on, grab your favourite cosy blanket (the fluffier the better), light a yummy scented candle and take 5 mins for yourself. Lets begin…

I cannot believe we are halfway through the first month of 2021 already. I have seen a lot of people chat about goals and targets this year, which is fab that people are giving themselves something to aim for. However I just want to put it here that it is completely OKAY if just getting through this year sane is your goal. Try not to be too hard on yourself. We are living through a pandemic, going through such a weird and crazy time and trying to find our feet along the way. I find it helpful to instead make smaller targets. Of course It is good to be thinking about bigger goals but taking that pressure of yourself and making smaller ones will help you to narrow down, focus and keep going. If you want to stay in bed one morning to rest, then you do that. If you want to get up and go for a run (wrap up warm huns) then you do that! To sum up my rambling, do not be too hard on yourself. Take each day as it comes.

From the theme song of the classic cartoon Arthur “Believe in yourself cos’ thats the place to start!”

It’s not just M&S food it’s the best supermarket ever …food!

Have you heard the fab news? Marks and Spencer are offering additional support to the GOV’s free school meal vouchers, by topping them up an extra £5. Meaning the voucher will go up to £20 when used at an M&S store. Food Poverty Campaigner aka legend Marcus Rashford (who I think should quite frankly be made Prime Minster) supports this move.

Marks and Spencer’s senior food nutritionist Laura Street has put together a special 5 day meal planner, to help guide parents with child friendly meal options and ideas… Click Here to view/download the free guide.

M&S has a whole section of tips, recipes and ideas on their website which they frequently update. Who doesn’t love food inspiration ?… Click Here to view their food inspo page.

Remember to keep an eye out for food banks at your local supermarket, it doesn’t have to be much, all donations big or small help. Pasta and tins cost pennies and go a long way!

As I am writing this I am absolutely buzzing to be able to share such a fabulous and talented artist with you all! Meet the wonderful woman that is Roberta Barnor. This lovely lady and I met at University in which we were both studying Acting. I heard her before I saw her, her voice… It is insane. Every-time I listen I get goosebumps. I came across a video on her instagram the other week of her singing for her local church. I knew I wanted her to be my first ‘guest’ as she radiates positivity, love and her smile is a true infectious wonder. I can almost guarantee she will put a smile on your face. Put your headphones in or blast it out loud on your speaker, I give you Bobbie Barnor Singing an absolute Positive BOP exclusively for us! – “Juice” by Lizzo. Your welcome… Bobbie I love you x

Something to bake…Yummy coconut cookies…

Once January hits us we usually tend to step away from the yummy things…well some people do. However I had lots of coconut chocolates left in the Crimbo chocolate tubs (My brother devoured every other one). I myself love coconut so I decided to find a recipe in which I could use them all up. I found a recipe online at Livalittlebakery.com to make yummy ‘Millie style’ Bounty bar cookies. Firstly I am no professional baker, I just love baking, the majority of the time they come out okay, well edible and yummy anyway, i’ll get there on the presentation! This recipe was simple enough to follow, using a different cookie batter method than I have done before. Nevertheless they tased sooooo YUM. The gooiest cookies I’ve baked. The recipe is adaptable so if you’re an anti coconut person then you can use any choccies you like. I wanted to share it here, just incase on the off chance you have any leftover choccies from Crimbo and want to get some baking done yourself, It is such a good way to let your mind focus on something else other than the goings on in the world and whats better than a yummy reward at the end of it! Let me know if you give them ago.

National Winnie The Pooh Day

Today, the 18th of January is the birthday of the great Author – A.A.Milne, who in 1926 brought us everyone’s favourite bear, Winnie aka Winnie the Pooh! Making today National Winnie The Pooh day! Pooh Bear is one of my favourite characters – He is kind, humble, wise and loving. If you haven’t already, I highly recommend watching ‘Goodbye Christopher Robin’ , which tells you the heartfelt true story of how and why our loveable bear was created. The film really makes you stop and think about the history behind it, which makes you appreciate it all the more. Of course it makes me cry like crazy but what Disney film doesn’t let’s be real.

In honour of National Winnie The Pooh Day I thought I would share some of his best quotes (Taken from the website – Goodreads.com) – All Of course by A.A.Milne. Quotes in which I think from now on we should all live by…

  • “You can’t stay in your corner of the Forest waiting for others to come to you. You have to go to them sometimes.”
  • “Some people care too much. I think it’s called love.”
  • Weeds are flowers, too, once you get to know them.”
  • “Rivers know this: there is no hurry. We shall get there some day.”
  • “The things that make me different are the things that make me.”

If you read those in his lil voice like me then I love you.

Something that made me giggle…

This week whilst I was cooking dinner, I had BBC radio 1 blaring, dancing along and loving life. Until I stopped and laughed out loud at a section they had in called – Funny Business , now I might be running behind on this trend but oh my it did crack me up. The hosts call up businesses with names which are pretty much innuendos and ask them about how they came to decide on that name. In this case they had a business called ‘Camel Towing’ and ‘The only way is Erect’ … Maybe I’m immature but I hope that made you at least half smile! These are legitimate businesses and I fully respect them especially with names like those!… It’s only right I link them below :’)

Keep one ear open when listening to Radio 1 for a little giggle!

Something Nice to watch…

As I was drinking my morning coffee the other day I randomly put on this show I found on BBC iPlayer. Which turned out to be the most heartwarming, cute and PAWWFECT program ever – Pooch Perfect! I’ve read that the first season was aired in February 2020 with the fabulous Rebel Wilson hosting. I do not remember ever hearing or seeing anything about it at the time. However this time around the lovely Actress Sheridan Smith does a brilliant job of hosting the family friendly show, in which dog groomers from all over the UK join together to compete in different challenges to be crowned UK’s Best Dog Groomer. It runs for 8 weeks and airs on a Thursday at 8pm on BBC ONE. If you’re a dog lover or even if you’re not I am sure you will enjoy this adorable show!

Small Shop Shoutout!

This weeks small shop shoutout is dedicated to a very good friend of mine. I am incredibly proud of her and how much her little business just keeps growing and growing. @Boardsbyjess is a personal art service in which you can find anything and everything to do with calligraphy (which is simply stunning by the way). Jess’s style of art really does cater for all, her talent is endless. I could easily dedicate a whole blog with pictures of her work as it really is so aesthetically pleasing. Make sure you check out her Instagram (Linked below) to feast your eyes on her beautiful work. Wether you’re looking for a window illustration for your own business, pretty personalised cards for someone special or even gorgeous bespoke art pieces to add to a special day you have in the diary. As Jess and I have been friends since primary school I can fully recommend her with confidence, she is professional, friendly and has a smile that makes everyone around her smile back.

With Valentines coming up why not treat someone you love with a beautiful card made especially for them – See Pictures below for a few examples.

Keep an eye out for my next issue of Positivi-Tea where there will be a special Valentines competition – You may find something made with love by Jess!
